George & Ellen Ide Descendants & Families
George and Ellen Ide left behind eight generations of local family roots going all the way back to the very founding of one of the original 13 Colonies, The Providence Plantations (Rhode Island). In 1866, they migrated to the Western Frontier in a farm wagon converted to prairie schooner, and ultimately settled in Iowa in 1870. Five generations of their descendants have lived on or very near their original Iowa homestead. We celebrate George and Ellen Ide’s Yankee individualism, patriotism, and civic-mindedness – but above all, their pioneering spirit.
